We teamed up with Ashleigh, an interior designer, and Jordan, a journalist/graphic designer who were interested in finding out more about us and our business to share with their Place community. The husband-and-wife team from Adelaide have recently renovated a 1960s home and they love to showcase real stories about Australian people and their places by exploring various homes, renovations, workplaces, lifestyle, design, travel and everyday life.

Q&A. Why should someone use your breeze blocks in their home? What sets it apart?

"Breeze blocks are a popular choice for various construction projects due to their affordability and versatility. Made from concrete and sand, they are highly durable, capable of withstanding extreme weather, moisture, and fire, ensuring long-lasting structures.

They require minimal maintenance once sealed or painted, as they resist rot, decay, and pests. Breeze blocks also offer energy efficiency, helping to regulate temperatures and reduce the need for heating or cooling.

Available in various shapes, sizes, and patterns, they provide design flexibility for both interior and exterior applications. Additionally, breeze blocks are an environmentally sustainable option, as they are made from natural resources and can be recycled."

Q&A. How many staff does the company employ? Is it all based out of Brisbane?

"Surprisingly, we currently have only four full-time staff members managing the operations of this national company. However, with the expansion of our manufacturing arm and reseller networking growing, we anticipate that this number will undoubtedly increase this year.

We are based out of North Brisbane, with a display located in The Build & Design Centre in South Brisbane.

We do have resellers nationwide and always looking for more so that we can service all customers within each state successfully."

Q&A. Do you stock in South Australia and or will you be in the future?

"At the moment, we don't have stock available in South Australia, although we ship directly from our Brisbane warehouse.

We are currently looking for a reseller in South Australia as there is a high increasing demand for our products within the state."

Q&A. What's next for your company? Any new and exciting things happening for 2025?

"We’re launching an exciting new arm of the business—manufacturing right here in Brisbane, Queensland. Our 'Home Grown Series'.

We’ve purchased multiple block presses, which will operate out of our Brisbane location, and will introduce 12 new styles. Some are similar to what we already offer, but there are also some brand-new designs. This move allows us to press our own range of blocks for distribution as well as offer custom styles along with custom colours creating partnerships with oxide suppliers.

This launch is coming soon, and I’m excited to share that we’ve become a general member of Think Brick Australia / Concrete Masonry Association of Australia (CMAA). This positions us alongside major manufacturers like Austral and PGH—it’s a whole new level for us.

We’ll continue to carry our imported range alongside our new Australian-made collection, which we believe will be next-level. The rising costs of freight, delays and the high priority of sustainability, reducing carbon emissions and overall having the ability to create an eco-environmentally product direct within Australia, make it a natural step for us to invest in our own range of breeze blocks.

This way, we can keep prices competitive, avoid gaps in the market and ensuring continuous service and a spectacular product to our customers."

Q&A. What is one of your favourite projects where your product has been used?

The Arch project in Broadbeach Waters located in the heart of the Gold Coast, stands out as one of our favourites. A striking feature of this property is the impressive 7 metre tall breeze block wall, which is not only an aesthetic centerpiece but also a sophisticated engineering solution.

The wall features over 200 of our stunning BIGS "Geo" blocks in white, each one meticulously crafted. Countless hours of dedication, hard work, and patience went into its creation, resulting in immense job satisfaction and pride.
We also had the pleasure of collaborating with our sister company - interior design business, “Incas Interiors", for the internal finishes and cabinetry designs, further enhancing the overall vision of the project.

Q&A. What is one of most interesting ways that you have seen your product been used?

"We’ve seen our products being used in a variety of creative ways, and a couple of our favourites include:

At Basq House, a boutique accommodation in Byron Bay, we supplied & installed our 3D Premium Flower Breeze Blocks, which were beautifully integrated with a laser-cut screen for the after-hours entry.

At our New Zealand Villa Peaks project, we installed an internal wall in the butler’s pantry using our Sunstory Breeze Blocks. This design not only ensured privacy but also allowed natural light and ventilation to flow into the central area of the home."

Q&A. Is installing breeze blocks something that is easy for a diy’er to install or do you recommend specific installers?

"Breeze blocks can be a good choice for small DIY projects, but they do require a bit of skill and the right tools to install properly.

We also stock the relevant installation materials including horizontal lateral ladder, alligator ties, Austral Mortex in White (our perfect colour match!) along with ChemForce Impregnating Sealer - a must, if you are not painting your blocks.
We have all data sheets available for more information via our website - www.thebreezeblockcompany.com

We do however always would promote a licensed qualified installer/brick or blocklayer to carry out works over a DIY. These beauties can be quite tricky to install and require precision to pay homage to the breeze blocks themselves and allow for the installation to portray a stunning final product.
